Round 2

It has been a couple of days since I have refashioned anything because this one took longer than I thought.  Maybe because I went to the pool and grilled out with friends, but it is summer and sometimes sunshine takes first priority.

This is a dress I got at Care and Share for $1.00 and everyone I showed thought it was so ugly, but I personally liked the floral print.

The first thing I did was cut out the shoulder pads.  The bold shoulder look is not cool these days, so of course they had to go.

Then I separated the bodice from the skirt because this dress had a long waist and I didn't much care for that.  Then I shortened the waist by cutting off a few inches and then sewing it back together.  This step took me the longest because the fabric was thin and slippery under the sewing machine.  Needless to say I became good friends with the seam ripper : (

But in the end I think it came out nice.  I made the dress sleeveless and lowered the neckline because I felt like it was choking me!  Then I made the hemline a high low cut (aka mullet skirt) because those are huge this season.  The arm holes turned out huge because of the loose fitting sleeves, but I can wear a ban-due top with it to cover up the unmentionables.
